Cup Noodle Museum
| The Good | The Not-So Good |
| Reasonably cheap | It’s more of an Asian thing? |
| Lots to do and very accessible |
The cup noodle museum is half blatant promotion of a company to near mythical heights, including the now legendary creator, Momofuku Ando, and half Japanese history lesson (through the lens of cup noodles).
The main website has everything you need to know. “When Japan” recommends you start with the Momofuku Ando life story movie on the 2nd floor and then walk around the exhibition using the free smartphone audio guide.
Make sure also to book your “design your own” cup noodle session (which is just you decorating a blank cup which is then filled with noodles by the staff). The lines can be long and there are limited time slots. Best to book one when you get your ticket. If you want to actually make your own noodles, then book the other experience online here (Japanese only) or at the 3rd floor reception once you enter. As space is limited you might find nothing available on the day, especially at weekends and holidays. Availability is listed in real time on their website. If you don’t do one or both of these activities the museum might seen a bit underwhelming.
There is also a museum in Osaka, with the Yokohama museum being a basic copy of the original Osaka museum but updated a bit. Probably not worth going to both unless you are a cup noodle fanatic. You can however book the same activities, just in can you miss out on the Yokohama ones due to timing or lack of free reservation slots at the time you need.
