Pork Ramen

Ramen is the traditional noodle dish most outside Japan will be familiar with. Naruto loved Ramen noodles. Thick and greasy it is an aquired taste. Expect the best noodles and soup to be served at specialized places that have few things on the menu other than their unique soup.

Common bases are Salt, Soy Sauce and Miso Sauce. A common variety is “Chashu” which comes with extra pork slices. Traditional Ramen has a boiled egg cut in two.

Local areas have local tastes, like the Toyama “pepper” black. Lines can be long at the more popular places however there are so many Ramen places in and around Japan that waiting isn’t something you need to do. Here are a few suggestions. Expect to pay ¥800-1000 for a good Ramen. You can top up the noodles afterwards by paying around ¥200 afterwards.

Use of ticket machines is common as often there are limited staff.
