Major Museums
There are a lot of museums around the major lakes. Here are a list of the more interesting ones (Google Maps List).
Fujisan World Heritage Center
The centerpiece Mount Fuji museum with an app you can download for help when inundated with Japanese text.
Narusawa Mount Fuji Museum – Japanese only
A small museum dedicated to Mount Fuji with limited English support. It is a fairly short walk from the Ice Caves and does have a great view of Mount Fuji. The museum shop just sells tat so give it a miss.
Yamanashi Gem Museum
A nice collection of gems plus a shop that sells overpriced jewellery. Limited English support.
Kawaguchiko Museum of Art
A short walk over the bridge from the station side of Lake Kawaguchi, this museum has a great view of Mount Fuji and is a short walk from the Forest Museum.
Kawaguchiko Forest Museum
Mainly for families and has a European style theme park vibe. Focuses on automatic musical instruments. Did you come all the way to Japan for that?
Kitahara Museum Of Toys and Nostalgic Items
Great for the kids although they will want to buy something from the museum shop as it is all toys. Easy access on the station side of the lake and close to the Herb Shop and other amenities.
Other Museums (mostly Lake Kawaguchiko)
Lake Kawaguchi – list of most museums. If you have this much time on you hands you probably are wasting your Japan visit.
