Access to Umitamago Aquarium

A bus from either Beppu or Oita City will take you directly to Umitamago.

Busdoko is actually a fairly nice site to use for searching bus routes in Oita. It is linked from the official Oita homepage.

When Japan recommends staying in Beppu over Oita City. A side trip to Kitsuki is also highly recommended. If coming into Kyuushu by the Shinkansen, then the local train will take you via Kitsuki and then to Beppu. From there, travel links between the major cities in Oita are good however as always, a hire car is the most convenient option.

What to do in Umitamago Aquarium?

There are plenty of events throughout the day so plan your time based on the schedule. Expect to stay for a few hours.


Places close to Umitamago Aquarium

The Takasakiyama Natural Zoo (Monkey Park) is right next door and shared the same parking space as Umitamago. A combined ticket can be purchased from the tourist offices at either Beppu Station or Oita City Station. The combined ticket also includes the return bus ride from either Beppu or Oita City. Here is a picture of the ticket in case you need to point and ask someone where to purchase. The blue tickets are your return bus tickets, with the green ticket for your Monkey Park entrance and the blue ticket for Umitamago Aquarium.
